So last week my sister decided to post a Thankful Thursday post and I feel there is no other appropriate way to come back to blogging.
So first of all, I apologize for being absent from my blog for such a long time now. I have been a little under the weather for quite some time now and am finally starting to turn the corner after a stressful adventure. To give you a brief snap shot, I have been having severe headaches and eye problems since late February. The doctors that we were seeing in the military clinics in Germany were just never really sure what was going on. Most of them seemed to think it was migraines but every type of migraine medication they put me on did not help and the headache was constant. They could also never explain why I was having the eye problems that made my eyes swell and such.
Well, eventually we were able to get an appointment with a specialist but it was going to take about two weeks for us to get an appointment. In the meantime, my condition continued to get worse. My eyes started to swell profusely, my vision began to double and blur, I was having a great deal of trouble keeping any kind of food down. It got to the point where Jonathan and I both were getting nervous. We talked with my parents and decided it would be best for me to fly back to Georgia and get assistance here. So we booked a flight and I got on a the long plane ride to Atlanta. My parents picked me up from the airport and took me straight to the emergency room in Athens. I ended up being admitted to the hospital and was in the hospital Thursday through Sunday afternoon. We were able to convince them to release me in time to see some of my family at my grandparents house for Easter lunch. Anyhow, in the end they were able to determine that I had a pretty rare eye disease called orbital myositis. Basically all the muscles around my eyes were swollen five to ten times the normal size which is what was causing all the other problems. So right now, I am on a pretty high dose of steroids to reduce the swelling. So far there has been a lot of improvement. I am still having some double vision but once the swelling goes down some more that will as well so overall good news in the week I have been here.
So all in all very thankful for all the help I have been able to get in the last week. I know there were a countless number of people praying for me and I have never felt so loved by so many people. I am incredibly grateful for all my family and friends who have been prayer warriors on my behalf. I will be here in Georgia for a little while until we see everything through so I hope I get the chance to see all of you that have been on your knees for me. Thank you once again for giving me so much to be thankful for today!
