CAKE CRAZE

I have recently been diving into fun ways to make cakes and trying to be creative and learn new ways. I have a wonderful friend named Marianne who makes lovely cakes- much lovelier than any I have ever made. She helped me make fondant for my friend's baby shower cake. It turned out harder than I thought it would be to cover the cake smoothly. But here is the flower cake I made with that.

We also had our 100th day of school on Monday and I decided to try out my new cake pan which makes letters and numbers. So it was a lot of fun trying out my new pan and decorating this cake that fed all the kindergartners and a few teachers as well.

Pat on the back!

Ok, so I am on a roll here recently. Next update, Christina's baby shower! The Sunday after we got back from the sea of rocks we had a baby shower for our sweet friend Christina! I have not finished editing the pictures from the shower much to her dismay but here is one I am giving myself a pat on the back for- her cake that I made. It was so much fun and turned out really great! I will also show you how I made the cake in case you ever have the need to make a butterfly cake for any reason!

Start with two round cakes

Cut each cake into a peace sign and then turn the top two

Repeat with second cake and stack, add mini cupcakes for body

Frost

Add butterfly cupcakes to the side and ta-dah!

IT'S ALIVE!!!!!!

Here is my monster cake for the cake walk in our community fall festival tonight. The chocolate frosting was a little harder to work with than I initially thought it would be but all in all came out pretty good.
