Nostalgic

Feeling nostalgic this afternoon. My heart warms to see these sweet cousins interact and how excited he was about Baby Ian. I am feeling particularly nostalgic because I was going through old photos on my phone, in preparation to upload and clear out space for more! I came across his fourth month pictures I took and was blown away at how much he had changed since then. I was then taken back a little that those things happen without you even realizing it! You take it day by day and sometimes you don't realize that he is becoming a little man! Don't believe me? Take a look for yourself!

See what I mean?!?! He looks like a baby on the left! On the right he looks like a little boy!! I don't know if I can handle all the cuteness!! As my sister so eloquently reminded me, change is always around the corner! Change is good though. I want him to grow up, just that ever present struggle between holding on and letting go. I get to hold on for now. But soon, I have to start letting go. I have to start not only being ok with him needing me less but foster that! Talk about ripping the band-aid off the wound!

A Handful

My little booger hit the five month mark over the weekend! I can't believe how much he has grown and I can't imagine what life would be like without him. It is true, hard to remember what things were like before he came along. I already have resorted to taking him out of his carseat most of the time because the thing is just too darn heavy with him in it! This picture was from Saturday and it was the first time he rode in the grocery cart like a big boy. He is still getting the hang of sitting up on his own so we ended up barricading him in on both sides, lol. He likes to lean! :)

Things Ian likes: standing (with help), kicking his legs as fast as he can, rolling from side to side and rolling over, squealing, babbling, chewing on his paci clip ribbon, and cereal!

He dislikes: When I have to comb through his hair during bath time, missing or being shorted his nap, and long car rides.

Weight/height: Last time we went to the doctor he was 14 pounds 8 oz. so I imagine he is close to 15 pounds by now. He was also 24 1/4 inches tall! He broke the two feet mark! He was in the middle on weight percentage wise, but only about 30% in height. Wonder if we have another growth spurt on the horizon?

Clothing Size: He is still in 3-6 months, thankfully. I was wondering if he would even get to wear that striped shirt above but luckily the weather cooled down some this past week and he had a chance to wear it.

Milestones: He has since started rice cereal in the mornings and in the afternoon. Some days he does great and finishes it all. If he is still sleepy when he wakes up in the morning- he may finish half. But when he is awake enough, he is interested and will let you know when you are taking too long to get the next spoonful to his mouth! Rolling from back to tummy quite easily now.

Sleep: He still takes at least two naps during the day. He doesn't always take a nap before bed anymore. He is usually ready for his bottle and bed by 8:00 and asleep by 8:30-8:45. He is sleeping in his crib now all through the night. Every now and then a bad dream or something causes him to stir but offering him his paci usually soothes him.

Random tidbits: You still love smiling! It is neat to see that you are truly recognizing people you know. I love your chuckle and will keep making you chuckle until you don't find it funny anymore. You like playing peek a boo. You are really starting to take an interest in what the dogs are doing and it makes me giggle. Just the other day when you were sitting in your exer-saucer, Trooper was licking your feet and tickling you and you would just laugh! I love hearing you squeal and then smile, pleased with yourself that you can make that much noise. You still are not a big fan of wearing shoes or socks and I know it will be a challenge come cooler weather to keep them on! I see many lost socks in my future!

I love you so much and I love playing with you, reading to you, rocking you to sleep, and watching you explore the world around you. You are a happy boy and I am so grateful for that. You are an absolute blessing and I pray everyday that God shows me how to love you with the love of Christ and teach you the things you need to know in order to be successful and an example of Christ. I love you booger!!

Just because

My other precious!!

Cousins

Look similar? The top picture is of my oldest nephew when he was a baby and the bottom one is of my baby boy! I know you can only see the profile of Jack above but I think they look a lot alike.

YIPPEEEE!!

WHOO HOO!! Look what came in the mail yesterday afternoon!! If you might remember, a while ago my loving dad propped his feet up on the coffee table only later to knock off my camera and make it a little wonky! Now, don't get me wrong- I didn't have anything against my camera but it wasn't the greatest thing in the world. So when it came to my dad talking about getting it fixed and it might cost more than it was worth- I decided to just keep my eye out for something better.

This is the picture my camera started taking after the great fall. The lens obviously got jumbled loose somehow. So, a week or so ago- I found a camera online on sale and looked up some reviews on it. It looked to be the kind of thing I was looking for so I went ahead and ordered it. It came yesterday and I was very excited to try it out! I feel sometimes for my sweet little boy and yesterday was one of those times! I have to remember not to go overboard or he will end up hating having his picture made later in life, sitting there in kindergarten drawing a picture of his mom with a camera in front of her face!

Love it already!!

harumph!

It has been a toilet paper roll by the bed, claritin every 24 hours, raw nose, sore throat, and blah kind of weekend. I think the work day may end a little early for me today because I am exhausted and feel like I just need to rest for a little while to feel better.

This little booger has caught my sneezes and a little cough but nothing to be overly concerned about. He is not a bad cough, really just a laughing kind of cough so I am hoping as I start to get better so does he. He certainly isn't as bad off as mommy so that is a good thing! Only the occasional sneeze. I love this picture I snapped the other day. He had just woken up from his morning nap and was still in a bit of a haze. :)

He cleared away the cobwebs soon though. This little guy sure knows how to make his mommy smile! He is seriously one of the happiest little guys and I love it! It makes my heart full to see him happy!

The weekend was a bit rough for us. Quite busy and not enough sleep for either of us. Made for long car rides with a fussy guy who was too tired to ride and too aggravated about being tired to sleep for more than ten minutes on said car ride. I know it comes with the territory of long days but it doesn't make it any easier.

Luckily by the next day, we were able to stick to our normal routine and the day was much smoother. Hoping to kick this nasty cold soon so that the days and nights can be even better. Plus, I can't really run right now because I end up feeling like I am going to cough up a lung if I do. Oh the joys of being blah!!

Double Time

We celebrated this weekend double time!! My brother's birthday was July 27 and my sister's is August 11. I am one lucky gal to have these two in my life!! I love them so much and they have been there for me through it all. They have been an ear to listen when I need, a shoulder to cry on, and someone to make me laugh when a smile seemed to great a feat. I am so glad we got to hang out with them and love on them!!

Ian loved the play time with his cousins. His big cousins love him so and while I love watching their relationship, it is a little tough going from the Emmy they love to see to Ian's mommy- because they mainly care about seeing him! Haha, but I will survive as long as I still get my hugs and kisses. Sam, my three year old nephew was pretty funny. At lunch Ian was babbling away and Sam said, "I think he is trying to talk to me!" It was so cute!

Who wouldn't want to talk to this sweet guy? I know right?!?!

Sam and my conversation:
Sam: "I think he wants some of his milk, Emmy."
Me: "Maybe he does. Do you know what I want?"
Sam: "Ummm, kisses?"
Me: "YES!"

That boy knows his Emmy well! For the record, I got what I wanted! :)

I almost forgot, if you want to check out this Initials Inc I keep talking about click on this link. It will take you to the online shopping event for my launch tonight. Fear not, you need not buy anything but it will let you browse through all the different products! There is some seriously cute stuff!! I am so excited about this season! These are little handbags that are perfect for the little girl in your life! How sweet is that!?!?!

Slow But Steady

So I have been trying to get into running. I have been struggling with this for quite a while. It was really hard to find the time to do any kind of exercise with little man in the mix. He is really getting on a steady schedule now though where he is usually in bed by 8:30 or 9:00. So I decided that was the best time to do some running. Now, I live with the parentals and they live out in the not-so-civilized area. This means no sidewalks on the road. So instead of trying to run on the road and getting off the road into the overgrown grass whenever a car comes, I decided to run the driveway. This might sound sort of silly, but I would rather be silly than risk running on the road/grass in the dark where slithering snakes might inhabit! Our driveway is pretty long. It is one of the driveways, you stop when you pull in so you can get the mail because you don't really want to walk that far to get the mail once you get to the top. Anyhow, it kind of works out because it has a slight incline to it- so it gives a little bit of extra work on the way back up. I can't run for near as long as I hope to be able to but it does feel good to at least be at it. I don't get to it every night because sometimes other things are more important- like baking cupcakes for tonight's Initials Launch. But you got to start somewhere right? Slow but steady and it sure does feel good to work up a little sweat and then take a shower before crawling in bed and drifting asleep.

Lovely sweat shine!! ;)

Monday Again?

It's Monday again, you say?
That pesky Monday just won't stay away!

Sure do wish time would slow down.
Before long, I will be chasing you all around town!

Weekends are filled with so much fun!
There is lots of laughter and then it's done!

Why must this dreaded day come?
I hear Monday is not as dreaded to some!

Well it was a Monday when God brought you to me!
I will forever be thankful for that you see!

Happy 20 weeks sweet boy of mine!
You make a Monday seem just fine!
